Frequently Asked Questions
What is a “design-build” firm?
A design-build firm like Carey Design Build offers a streamlined approach to construction by handling both the design and construction phases under one roof. This ensures faster timelines, clearer communication, and cost efficiency.
What services does Carey Design Build offer?
We specialize in custom home building, whole-house renovations, kitchen and bathroom remodels, additions, and exterior improvements. Our full-service team manages design, permitting, and construction.
What is the benefit of working with a local builder in the Iron Mountain area?
As a local builder, we understand regional styles, construction permitting, zoning permitting, and Upper Peninsula snowy weather considerations that influence home design and construction in our area.
How do I know if a remodel is the right choice versus building new?
As a 40-year-old community Iron Mountain business with family roots dating back over 100 years, our reputation has been built on creating peace of mind. You will not be oversold during our free consultation and evaluation process and help you determine whether remodeling or starting fresh is best for your goals, space, and budget.
Do you handle both design and construction?
Yes, we manage the entire process—from architectural design to final build—so you have a single point of contact and a cohesive experience.
Can I bring my own architect or plans to your team?
Absolutely! With our feasibility phase and agreement, you’re welcome to bring your own architect (we’ve worked with Bloomquist Architects and U.P. Engineers and Architects in the past), or existing plans, and we’re happy to collaborate. That said, one of the advantages of working with Carey Design Build is having everything under one roof. Our in-house designers are experienced, trusted, and deeply familiar with our design-build process, which helps ensure a smoother, more cohesive project from start to finish.
