Learning about our family’s origins, customs, and the paths they traveled often feels like discovering pieces of ourselves. Becoming oneself and the routines we weave into our lives share similarities and differences with those of previous generations. Across the many projects we’ve completed and the incredible clients we’ve served, family remains at the heart of most of them. The story behind the Lake Beecher Home Remodel holds this sentiment closely.
Feeling Like Family
The first time we visited the homeowners, it felt less like walking into a client’s house and more like being welcomed into an old friend’s home. Fresh treats had just come out of the oven, and we were made to feel like family. That feeling stayed with us throughout the entire project. Before the renovation, the home was simple, light-filled, and full of warmth. Rich wood tones, beautiful lake views, family heirlooms, and well-loved photographs. It quickly became clear that this home remodel wasn’t just about updating a house. It was about honoring the memories it held while creating a home that could continue bringing family together for years to come.
More Than Home Remodel
The Lake Beecher Home Remodel is one of our favorite projects to date because every decision was rooted in the people who call it home. From honoring the generations who came before them to creating spaces for the family they continue to build together, every detail was designed with intention.
The home now includes spaces that thoughtfully support the way their family lives today. A welcoming bedroom for their grandchild to grow into, a bathroom designed with their tall son-in-law in mind, and a dining room where favorite family recipes can continue to be shared around the table. A fireplace mantle constructed by reclaimed butternut maple, which the homeowner’s father used to work with. Throughout the home, meaningful heirlooms and treasured pieces remain part of the story, connecting their Swedish past with the present.
Designing a home that feels effortless to live in always begins with understanding what matters most to each client. For this family, the answer was clear. Family has always been at the heart of this home, and now the home reflects that in every space.
Beyond The Walls
One meaningful detail extended well beyond the walls of the house. While the home’s layout was completely reimagined, including the addition of an attached two-car garage, many decisions were made with the existing property in mind. A beautiful pink apple tree that has been part of the family’s story for generations. Its health and preservation were a priority throughout design and construction. Year after year, the tree has provided its signature pink apples to family members. This tree was far more than a landscape feature; it was a living piece of the home’s history. It’s another great reminder that thoughtful design isn’t just about creating beautiful spaces; it’s about preserving the memories and traditions that make a place feel like home. The homeowners later gifted our team homemade applesauce from the apples of this cherished tree as a thank you for protecting something so meaningful to their family. It is moments like these that remind us why we do what we do.

This home remodel was so successful and stands out to our team for the trust and vulnerability it required. Opening yourself and your home to a team you’ve just met requires a great deal of trust. We understand that inviting someone into a space filled with memories, traditions, and personal stories is deeply meaningful.
